Last updated 2026-08-18. EditDocx (editdocx.net) is a free, ad-supported browser editor for Word (.docx) and Excel (.xlsx) files.

The service

You may use the editor without creating an account. Document bytes are processed in your browser. EditDocx does not upload, store, or sell your document content. Page assets, fonts, advertising, and privacy-limited analytics may still load over the network — see the Privacy Policy.

No warranty on layout fidelity

EditDocx is not Microsoft Word or Microsoft Excel. Everyday text, lists, tables, and formulas are the intended work. Charts, SmartArt, OLE objects, macros, pivot tables, and password-protected files are unsupported. Always download and reopen the file before you send it. We provide the site “as is.”

Advertising

The marketing shell is supported by Google AdSense. Ads are separate from document processing. The editor workspace itself does not run Auto Ads. Your use of ads is also governed by Google’s policies.

Acceptable use

Do not use EditDocx to break the law, to attack other systems, or to upload malware through site features that are not document editing (for example feedback forms). We may block abusive traffic.
